I've been running Clew bindings for several years now (around 100 days a year) and never looked back. The entry system is genuinely fast and easy — not the usual brochure promise: you clip in standing up and go, no sitting in the snow fighting with straps.

The new Independence is another step forward. Reactive when you need it, solid on long days, and the build holds up to real use, not two runs and done.

If you're on the fence: worth the money. Recommended.

This binding is absolutely perfect for saving energy on the mountain. I am 6'4" 230lbs size 13 boot. Not in the best shape but not in the worst shape either! I'm also not the best snowboarder but I'm also not the worst. I keep up! I ride everything from greens and blues with my wife to black diamonds with my boys! I have taken huge tumbles down black diamonds, my board even got stuck nose first and I flipped over it cracking my board. But guess what didn't give! My CLEWS! They stayed on my board and on my boots. I was sore for 3 days. But I was able to put my Clews on a new board that day and kept riding! So so durable they are! My absolute favorite thing about these bindings is how easy it is to manage long lift lines. I pull the back bar up and remove the board. This is a seamless process and so nice to be standing hanging out leaning on the board. Right before I scan my pass, I drop the board and easily step in (as all the jelly people watch me). I can't tell you how much energy that saves someone like me! So, thank you Clew for these, they keep me shredding all day, no more half days! I can't wait to get my wife a pair, so I don't have to buckle and unbuckle her at every lift line. Thank you!

Worked great. I spent about 10 days on them this year and they were very nice. It isn't the smoothest system. You do still have to uncinch and cinch the toe binding to get in and out, but it is much quicker than doing both bindings. If you have good balance, you can even get your boot attached while riding away from the lift. The attachment system is very secure, though. My heel never came out and I always felt planted on the board.

Better straps and the third hook notches on the heel are nice improvements over the already great CLEW Freedom 1.0 model

Got 3 weeks out of my bindings before the cable release snapped. Reached out by email twice with no response from customer support back in February.

Overall I was satisfied with the bindings as someone who primarily rides blues with skiers I loved the convenience of not having to restrap while all my friends zipped off. My one complaint is the heel didn’t always feel secure and gave me some concern when riding on steeper or more technical terrain. Overall it is great for Midwest hills or easy days on the mountains.

I’m a 54-year-old male let me tell you what a pleasure clicking in while I’m on the lift as you’re getting off the lift no more bending you guys did really good

Responsive, just the right amount of stiff and flex and best of all, easy to get in a and out of! I need them on all of my boards!

I have been riding CLEW bindings for 5 years now! The quality is insane, and I know that is because they are handmade in Germany. I love them so much.

Really great. Customer service was also awesome.

I’ve been riding for over 40 years and have probably owned around 100 boards. I rode Union Forces and Falcors for years, and I’ve always loved my Cartels too.

Honestly, these bindings feel just as good on the mountain. Even when I’m charging hard and really pushing into an edge, I can’t feel any difference in performance.

There are a couple of things I’d change. I’d love a proper tool free forward lean adjustment, and the baseplate could use some cooler graphics and details, like the old Union Falcor.

I was seriously skeptical about step ins for years, but I’m happy to admit I was wrong. Regular straps are great, but once you experience how convenient step in is, especially at the lift, it’s hard to go back.

I’ve had two models of Clew bindings, and both times I've had that "wait, how did they make it even better?" moment. Clew actually listens to riders when they build these things, and honestly, that's rare and it matters. The step-in, step-out design alone is worth writing home about it's ridiculously handy.

But my real ride-or-die feature? These bindings work in ALL conditions. Even on a deep powder day when the mechanism's piled with snow, it doesn't affect function! I never had to meticulously clean it out. It just works, every time, no drama.

I'm already counting down the days to get back out there this season if you're on the fence, just go for it. You will not be disappointed. These are 100% worth the investment.

Been riding CLEW for 3 seasons now, around 120 days per season, and honestly once you go CLEW it’s hard to go back. Super quick to step in and out, feels solid while riding, and I love that I can use my normal boots. Makes my life so much easier!!

I've been riding Clew since the early days of the Freedoms and the independence took everything | loved about the freedoms and made them even better and then some. I put 30 days on my Independence bindings this season and took them in every condition imaginable.
From Summer slush days at Mt Hood, deep powder days up in Canada and frozen icy conditions at Big Sky or even in Austria. You name it, the bindings functioned perfectly for me and rode so well. You've got better damping, much more comfortable under foot all day, they've made the straps much much better performance and comfort wise, the new 3 stage locking system holds perfect and goes in much smoother and easier, the weight savings is definitely noticeable underfoot and on board, and they just ride better. They've got a playful but still aggressive feel. I LOVE these snowboard bindings and have definitely been spoiled being able to step into my board right off the lift or from a skate across a run. Hands down they made my favorite bindings even better and I cannot stress enough how much I love the Independence. If you've been on the fence about CLEW, this is the upgrade you've been waiting for to push you over the edge.

What an absolute game changer! I’ve been boarding for over 30 years and to not have to sit down to buckle in. It’s a pure blessing! I had no issues with them whatsoever! I found them to be very high quality and will be putting another base on my other boards. I’m NEVER going back to strapping in the old school way again!

I will never go back to regular bindings. These are amazing

These bindings make riding so much easier. I have been wanting step ins for a while. I've never been fast at strapping in, especially on uneven terrain and in harsher conditions. Clew bindings make it much easier. Less time on my butt and more time riding.

Absolutely love what Clew is doing. The design is super clean, the technology really stands out, and the Made in Germany quality is second to none. Big fan of their apparel too. Highly recommend!

I've been using these bindings for a while now, and I'm honestly super happy with them. I can't see myself ever going back to regular bindings. The system is a total game changer—it's so quick and easy that it completely changes your riding experience.
I get asked about them all the time on the mountain, and I always end up recommending them. Once people see how fast and convenient they are, they're usually really interested. For me, there's no going back. They feel great, work perfectly, and make every day on the slopes even more enjoyable. If you're on the fence, just go for it—you won't regret it!!

Been coaching for over 12 years and I seriously love these bindings!! They make coaching way easier and they just ride so damn good. I recommend them all the time. The mechanism works every single time, no matter how awkward I'm standing on the slope. I can literally step in blind, right off the chairlift, and I'm locked in within seconds!! :)

I've been using these bindings for a few days now, and I'm really impressed. They performed well in a variety of snow conditions and felt comfortable throughout the day. I can't really say anything negative about them. Overall, I'd definitely recommend them.
